On August 25, on the appeal of the Officer Employees United Front, more than 5.5 lakh Madhya Pradesh state government employees observed a one-day mass holiday in support of their 39-point charter of demands. Category 3 and 4 gazetted officers also joined the strike. Around 20,000 patwaris in the state are already on strike.
Employees demonstrated jointly on the call of Clerical Class Government Employees Union, Small Wage Employees Union, Third Class Employees Union, Revenue Employees Union and Pensioners Association. State President of United Employees Front Jitendra Singh, State Secretary of Class III Employees Union Umashankar Tiwari, District President Mohan Iyer, State President of Clerical Employees Union MP Dwivedi, Mahendra Sharma of Small Wage Employees Union, Drivers Union Sabir Khan, District Court Employees Union State President Neeraj Srivastava, Corporation Board President Anil Vajpayee, Public Works Department (PWD) Clerks Union President Ratnesh Saundhia, Ashok Pandey addressed the employees sitting on dharna.
Officers and employees have been agitating for their demands but no attention is being paid for them. They warned that there would be an indefinite strike in the month of September.
Restoration of old pension and regularization of daily wage earners, temporary and outsourced workers are also included in the demands.
