Rajasthan electricity employees demand withdrawal of the decision to hand over 132 KV grid sub-stations to private players

Report of Rajasthan Vidyut Karmchari Sangh

Under the leadership of Shri Jitendra Kumar Sharma (Convenor, Bharatpur), the Rajasthan Vidyut Karmchari Sangh organized a protest demonstration against the decision to group six 132 KV grid sub-stations (Pahari, Deeg, Kaman, Vair, Bhusavar and Dhaula Kua) of the Bharatpur circle into two clusters and transfer them to private players. The union submitted a memorandum to the Chairman and Managing Director, Rajasthan Electricity Transmission Corporation Ltd., Jaipur, on 21 September 2023, at the office of the Superintending Engineer (T&C), Rajasthan Electricity Transmission Corporation, Brij RIICO Industrial Area, Bharatpur.

Shri Jitendra Kumar Sharma said that the government is only pretending to be employee friendly, when, at present, the electricity employees are being exploited the most. On the one hand, the Honourable Chief Minister has recently announced that the contract system will be ended, and on the other hand, the said grid sub-stations are being given on contract to private hands. Thus, handing over the said grid sub-stations on contract directly disregards the Honourable Chief Minister’s announcement.

Moreover, power system is being operated smoothly at all these 132 KV grid sub-stations and sufficient corporation employees are available and are doing good work in the interest of the corporation. Handing over these 132 KV grid sub-stations under Rajasthan Electricity Transmission Corporation Ltd., Bharatpur circle, to private hands will be an injustice to all the electricity employees working there.

The condition of all the grid sub-stations given on contract in the past is pathetic, examples include Jodhpur division and Alwar district. Therefore, the organization strongly opposes giving these grid sub-stations on contract and urges you to withdraw this decision.

Several workers/activists participated in the demonstration, including Mr. Vikas Jain ji, Mrs. Jyotsna Pandey, Mr. Ankit Bansal ji, Mr. Udaybhan ji, Mr. Chandrabhan Sahu ji, Mr. Santosh Sharma ji, Mr. Sher Singh ji, Mr. Manish ji, Mr. Rajeev ji, Mr. Pramod ji, Mrs. Shahnaz Bano ji, Shri Mahendra Sharma ji, Shri Sushil Chaudhary ji and Shri Naveen Kumar ji of the union.

At the end of the demonstration, Shri Jitendra Kumar Sharma expressed his gratitude to all the workers/activists for making the demonstration successful
