Report received from Steel Plant Employees Union, RINL, Vishakapatnam
Today, 17th May 2024, hundreds of workers surrounded the office of RINL General Manager demanding immediate payment of salaries and to operate RINL plant with full capacity.
The RINL Visakhapatnam steel plant has not paid salaries to its workers for the month of April 2024 till today. The RINL steel plant is not paying salaries in time for the past 4 months.
RINL production has come down to 20% because imported raw material (coal) required for steel production is lying at Adani-owned Gangavaram port, Vishakapatnam. Nearly 3 lakh tonnes of raw material (imported coal) worth of Rs. 800 crore is not being given to RINL plant. In spite of a High Court order, Adani owned port is not handing oved the raw material. The Central Government which is the owner of RINL is also not taking steps to resolve the issue as they want to privatise RINL.
