In response to the call given by the All India Station Masters’ Association (AISMA), over station masters from the Central Railway Mumbai division staged a protest at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) on 12th August 2024. The protest, was organized for early resolution of several key demands, including the immediate filling of vacant positions, improved facilities at place of work.
Shri Alok Kumar, Mumbai Divisional Secretary of the AISMA said that approximately 7.5 percent of station masters’ positions remain unfilled.
“The absence of assistant station managers at major and busy stations has significantly increased the workload for current station managers, adding to the pressure they face,” he said.
Many stations lack separate restrooms for female station managers, air conditioning, and adequate drinking water facilities.
A memorandum of their demands and grievances was submitted to senior authorities and discussion were held with them.
