Information about the online meeting of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers

The online meeting of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers was held late night on 12.11.2024 to discuss the decision to privatize the electricity department in the Union Territory of Chandigarh and the recent judgement of the Punjab and Haryana High Court not to interfere with that decision. The meeting was attended by the leaders of seven major organizations of engineers and employees present in the country. On behalf of All India Federation of Electricity Employees, Com. Mohan Sharma, General Secretary (Maharashtra), Com. Samiulla, Working President (Karnataka) and Com. Krishna Bhoyar, Deputy General Secretary (Maharashtra) participated in the meeting. Com. Prashant Chaudhary, Convenor (West Bengal), Shailendra Dubey (Uttar Pradesh), Ratnakar Rao (Telangana), Samar Sinha (West Bengal), Abhimanyu Dhankhar (Haryana), Subhash Lamba, Ashok Rao (Delhi), Rajendran and many comrades participated in this meeting.
The recent judgement of Punjab and Haryana High Court not to interfere with the government’s policy decision to privatize Chandigarh Electricity Department was discussed in detail.
The following are some decisions taken in the meeting:
- It was decided to file a petition in the Supreme Court against the Punjab and Haryana High Court judgement.
- It was decided to file a review petition in the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
- It was decided by all the organizations to hold a protest on 22 November by taking out a procession against privatization in front of the government and the electricity department in Chandigarh.
- Electricity employees across the country will soon protest against the judgement of the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
