A mass rally was held by power employees and engineers to oppose the proposed privatisation of the power department of Chandigarh Union Territory (UT). Thousands of employees from Northen Region participated in the rally.
Among those who attended were Er. Shailendra Dubey, Er. Padamjit Singh, Com. Mohan Sharma, Com. Subhash Lamba, Com. Samiullah, Gopal Dutt Joshi, Er. Kartikeya Dubey, Er. Vijay Kumar, Er. Yashpal Sharma, Er. Ajaypal Singh Atwal, Er. Y S Tomar, Er. Amit Ranjan, Er. Anil Mishra, Er. Rajeshwar Singh Jamwal, Er. Vijender Lamba, Er. Anil Nagar and other office bearers of different Northern Region States.
A meeting of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) held in Chandigarh on 22nd November and presided by Com. Subhash Lamba decided as follows:
- All out financial support will be extended by all All India Federations to UT Power Men Employees Union to fight legal battle in Supreme Court.
- UT Power Men Employees Union shall give a notice to UT administration that if any unilateral decision is taken to issue Letter of Intent (LOI) and handing over of the UT Power Department to a private company then without any further notice UT Power Employees shall start indefinite WORK BOYCOTT immediately. In support, nationwide demonstrations of power employees & engineers will be held across the country.
- To show solidarity with Chandigarh Power Employees, Protest Meetings / Demonstrations of Power Employees will be held on 6th December 2024 at state capitals in every State / UT.
- Massive Satyagraha Dharna will be held in Chandigarh in which every day hundreds of Power Employees will participate state wise from every State of Country. In the first phase, Northern Region States’ employees will come to Chandigarh for six days. Detailed program of state wise Satyagraha Program will be declared soon.
Er. Shailendra Dubey, Chairman, All India Power Employees Federation (AIPEF) declared the NCCOEEE decisions in Chandigarh rally which were warmly welcomed by thousands of power employees by raising roaring slogans of Inquilab Zindabad.
