Press Note
Dearness Allowance (DA) increased to 50% on 1.1.24. As per the rules of 7th Pay Commission, when DA becomes 50%, then all the allowances of the employees should be increased by 25%, according to which all the allowances of all other employees were increased by 25% but the kilometer allowance (KMA) given to the loco pilots of the railways has not been increased yet. Railway Board has refused to increase the allowance through a letter dated 24.12.24.
While whenever DA became 50, 100% in the 5th and 6th Pay Commission, there was a 25% increase in the kilometer allowance.
This discrimination and step-motherly attitude of the Railway Board has caused anger among the 1.5 lakh running staff of the Indian Railways.
Against this discrimination, as per the central decision of All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) (Train Drivers), on 22.1.25, for 25% hike in kilometer allowance, protest was held at all the crew lobbies of Indian Railways and gate meetings, demonstrations, rallies were taken out as Black Day.
