Electricity workers and engineers held gate meetings and demonstrations across Maharashtra for pending demands

On behalf of the Maharashtra State Electricity Workers Federation, a notice of agitation has been given for the pending 21 demands of technical and other workers at the head office level of the three electricity companies. On 21st February 2025, gate meetings and demonstrations were held across Maharashtra from Chandya to Bandya in front of the zone, circle and division offices by thousands of employees, engineers and outsourced workers.
This protest was held for demands such as fixing the working hours of technical employees working in Mahavitaran Company, fixing the work norms of employees, ending the oppression regarding recovery, issuing a revised circular by fixing the responsibility of recovery on all concerned, making more than 42,000 contractual workers in power companies permanent as per the seniority list, filling 32,000 vacancies in the three power companies, cancelling the tender issued for operating 329 sub-stations of Mahavitaran Company on a contractual basis, immediately arranging the promotion panel for technical and administrative posts, settling the pending cases of successors of deceased workers, creating junior office assistant positions in the newly created Municipal Corporation branch office, implementing a pension scheme for power employees, implementing EPF-95 pension, resolving the issue of illegal employment of machine operators and technical employees, determining the transfer policy of the three power companies, considering the three-year period of electricity and other assistants as retirement gratuity and first general order-74, redressal of grievances regarding mediclaim policy, implementation of hotline allowance for employees working in the hotline unit of the Mahapareshan Company, filling of posts reserved for internal recruitment, etc.
The next protest will be held in front of the zone offices on 27th February. After this, if the administration does not agree to the demands after discussion, 85000 employees, engineers, officers and outsourcing workers will go on a one-day strike on 6 March.
The protest on 21st February was led by Com. Mohan Sharma, C.M. Deshmukh, Krishna Bhoyar, Mahesh Jotrao and other office bearers.
