Report received from All India State Government Employees Confederation (AISGEC)
On 11th April 2025, Government employees, teachers and pensioners took out a march to Parliament in support of various demands, led by the All India State Government Employees Confederation (AISGEC). Thousands of people gathered in front of the Kerala House.
It was inaugurated by AITUC general secretary Amarjit Kaur. Speaking at the launch of the march, she said the state government employees all over India are dissatisfied with the Modi government, which is running more administration with less staff. The posts of government employees are lying vacant. The government continues to exploit the employees by destroying job stability through contractual appointments. The government, which surrendered to Indian corporates, has now surrendered to international financial corporates as well. “That is why Prime Minister Narendra Modi is refusing to speak on the issue of US import tariffs,” she said. The meeting was chaired by AISGEC President Kirtirath Singh. General secretary C. R. Jose Prakash welcomed the gathering.
The march was organised by the AISGEC for the demands of restoration of statutory pension, removal of delay in payment of Dearness Allowance arrears, protection of civil services, uniformity of pension age across the country, implementation of the recommendations of the 16th Pay Commission in the interest of the states and protection of public sector undertakings. The association’s national council meeting decided to go on a nationwide strike by state government employees and teachers on May 20 to press for these demands, General Secretary C R Jose Prakash said.
Rajesh Kumar Singh (UP), ML Sehgal (Haryana), Tapas Tripathi (West Bengal), Jayachandran Kallingal (Kerala), Ranjitsinh Ranwan (Punjab), Joy Kumar (Manipur), Mohammad Mahboob (Jammu and Kashmir), K Selvaraj (Tamil Nadu), Dr Nirmala (Telangana), Duleep Ulthana (Maharashtra), Bhaskara Bhandupan (Pondicherry) and Shambhu Saran Thakur (Bihar) addressed the march.
