On 7 August 2025, on the occasion of “BEST Divas”—which marks the day when the private BEST company was acquired by the city’s civic body in 1947—citizens raised demands for improved public transport services. Main demands included increasing the BEST fleet to 6,250 buses fully under public control, withdrawing the recent fare hike, merging BEST in the city’s municipal budget, canceling sale of BEST land holdings, paying mandated dues of retired BEST workers, and ensuring adequate connectivity across the city.

Activists submitted memorandums to Depot Managers at several depots such as Mulund, Deonar, Wadala, Gorai, Shivaji Nagar, Magathane, Dindoshi, Borivali, Bandra, and other places. Demonstrations and leaflet distribution programs were also organized to invite more people to join the campaign to save the city’s public transport system.
