On the central call of All India Loco Running Staff Association (AIRLSA) in 17 zones of Indian Railways, the running staff protested in support of their demands. This demonstration was organized in front of GM offices of all 17 zones of Indian Railways. The main objective of the demonstration was to raise the demand for a 25% increase in kilometre allowance of running staff in relation to TA after the dearness allowance (DA) became 50% from 1.1.24, 70% income tax exemption on kilometre allowance, and to keep the pay element 30% and 55% pension benefit applicable in case workers fail the psychological test.
The association said that letters were written several times to the Ministry of Railways and Railway Board regarding these issues and discussions were also held, but no concrete action has been taken yet.
In this context, on the instructions of AIRLSA Western Railway Zonal Executive Committee, protests were organized in all the crew lobbies of all the divisions of Western Railway. During these demonstrations, memorandums were submitted to the concerned officials in the name of GM WR and Railway Board.
Around 50-60 staff members also participated in the protest at Gandhidham crew lobby. They unitedly raised slogans in support of their demands and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Area Railway Manager (ARM) Gandhidham in the name of General Manager Western Railway and CRB Railway Board. This memorandum urges that the pending demands of the running staff should be fulfilled immediately.
