Power Plants of Tata and Adani, based on imported coal, should be asked to run at full capacity instead of asking all other power plants to use a part of imported coal to overcome coal and power shortage – AIPEF letter to the Power Minister

The All India Power Engineers Federation points out that asking every thermal power plant of the country to use 15% imported coal, to overcome coal shortage will increase the cost of power by over Rs. 1 per unit which is not in the interest of people. The coastal power plants of Tata and Adani at Mundra, Gujarat are supposed to run on 100% imported coal but are hardly producing any power when the country is facing a power shortage. They should be asked to run at full capacity by importing coal instead of every other plant using a part of imported coal.
