Strike notice of BSNL Employees Union (BSNLEU) and National Federation of Telecom Employees (NFTE) BSNL
BSNL is the starkest example of how the Government of India, through its policies, has choked this public sector company by refusing the necessary capital for modernization and refusing to recruit thousands of workers necessary to deliver good service to mobile customers. This thus gave a free reign to some of the biggest capitalists of India to maintain their stranglehold on the telecom sector of India.
BSNL Employees Union (BSNLEU) and National Federation of Telecom Employees (NFTE) BSNL have served notice to the relevant government authority declaring that their members will be participating in the nationwide strike of 12th February.
In addition to the demands raised by the Central Trade Unions, they have raised some sector specific demands:
- Immediately ensure good quality 4G service and expeditious rolling out of 5G service and stop weakening BSNL
- Undo the massive and unscrupulous abolition of posts done in the name of Restructuring of Manpower
- Immediately stop the massive outsourcing of BSNL work; fill up vacant posts in all cadres
- Stop retrenchment and super-exploitation of contract workers
