Report of Kamgar Ekta Committee (KEC) correspondent

Panvel Lobby for Running Staff is being shifted from out station platform to suburban platform. For this all the manual work of shifting materials is bring assigned to newly appointed Assistant Loco Pilots (ALPs) in Panvel Lobby. These ALPs after initial training at Bhusaval had been sent to Panvel for road learning (LRD) so that they can familiarize themselves with actual running of a train.
But in the middle of their LRD they were pulled out and asked to do the manual shifting. This has been going on for more than three days and nights!
When there is acute shortage of ALPs all over India affecting the safe operation of Indian Railways, why are the railway authorities taking this so casually and diverting these specialised employees for unnecessary work?
Whenever loco pilots meet to discuss their problems, CBI, Vigilance and Intelligence departments keep constant enquiry on how many people are attending, etc. Why don’t these same authorities take notice when ALPs are being misused?
The All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) Mumbai Division has written to the Divisional Railway Manager pointing out the misuse of the trained loco pilots and asked it to be stopped. (Letter enclosed)
