On 16th February 72 loco-pilots of Mumbai division Central Railway gave a joint application seeking voluntary retirement. On 22nd February this has been reported on this website.
Kamgar Ekta Committee (KEC) has written a letter to the General Manager Central Railway, jointly with Divisional Secretary of Mumbai Division All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA), demanding immediate redressal of various issues raised by loco-pilots seeking voluntary retirement. All the issues are mainly about atrocious working conditions of loco-pilots of Indian Railways, which get further amplified due to huge vacancies, an issue which the Indian Railways seems to be dragging its feet on. The letter demands a time bound resolution of all the issues. (see PDF attached with this article)
Loco-pilots form the backbone of Indian Railways and along with all operating staff of Indian Railways are responsible for safe and comfortable travel of crores of passengers every day. Hence, their safety and stress free working is extremely critical for the safety of all the working people who travel daily by railway. Onus of fighting for their safe and stress free working is not only on the loco pilots. Hence it is very important that all the working people should actively fight with the railway administration to ensure stress free and safe working conditions for the loco running staff and all other operating staff.
KEC calls on all the organizations of working people to actively support the loco pilots in their struggle.
