It is learnt that the Electricity (Amendment) Bill aimed at privatizing the entire power sector is likely to be introduced in the Lok Sabha on 10 March.
On 10 March, all employees and engineers must come out of their workplaces and ensure massive protest demonstrations. Preparations should be made for widespread nationwide protests on that day.
It must be clearly understood that if the Electricity (Amendment) Bill is passed, a new electricity law will come into force in the country. Under this law, private companies will be allowed to obtain licenses to distribute electricity using the existing government DISCOM network. There will be no need for any tender process for privatization. Private companies will simply obtain licenses and use the government network to capture profitable consumers.
This is a very challenging time. The moment demands decisive action. It’s now or never.
Prepare day and night for 10 March. This is a call of do or die.
