Singareni Collieries workers submit memorandum for filling maximum vacancies with internal candidates

Singareni Collieries Workers Union (AITUC) Deputy General Secretary Shaik Baji Saida, and other delegates submitted a memorandum to Srirampur Open Cast Project officials to resolve demands about filling vacancies.

Work in many vacancies in various categories in Singareni have been taken for a long time with low category workers temporarily and no acting allowances are being paid to them. For example, clerical, S&PC, tradesmen etc. vacancies are kept pending for a long time and the workload on other workers is increasing and they are suffering. Although over 800 clerical posts have been vacant for a long time, a circular has recently been issued to recruit only 155 eligible internal candidates as clerks.

It appears that after filling the vacancies as per the JBCCI guidelines, the remaining vacancies will be filled by outsiders. It is against and unfair to the JBCCI guidelines to take internal candidates nominally and to take large number of outsiders.

We therefore request that all clerical vacancies be filled only by eligible internal candidates.

We also request that the vacant posts of 600 security guards in MDC be filled up only with eligible internal candidates as they have been pending for a long time.

There are vacancies for tradesmen, i.e., fitter, electrician etc. As well as long-awaited internal candidates in various trades who are eligible. As in the past, if all these persons are given one year opportunity to get National Apprenticeship, they should be given the opportunity to get NCTVT certificate and recruited as trainees in the company scheme.

We also want you to allow transfers with professional degrees like BTech, MA, etc. to executive posts like Management Trainee, JMIT, Accounts Officer etc. Giving them a chance would not add extra manpower to the company and put no additional burden on the company.

We demand that all temporary workers completed by 190/240 masters be appointed as General Mazdoor.

We therefore request the management to look into the following requirements and take immediate action:

  • Vacant clerk posts above 800 should be filled only with eligible internal candidates.
  • The 600 vacant security guard posts should be filled by internal candidates.
  • Vacant Fitter, Electrician, Welder, Turner / Machinist, Moulder posts should be filled by internal candidates.
  • Those who have studied professional courses like BTech, Diploma, Mining Diploma, MA etc. should be recruited in future vacancies.

We therefore urge the management to respond promptly to the above demands and take appropriate action to curb company wastage and avail their services.
