Handing over Memorandum on Pension to Hon’ble Coal Minister on 25-8-2022 at Edulabad, Ghatkesar Mandal, Rangareddy district in Telangana
On the issue of enhancement of pension for pensioners in coal sector, representatives of Singareni Retired Employees Welfare Association and All India Coal Pensioners Association met and submitted a representation to Mr. Prahlad Joshi, Hon’ble Coal Minister who visited Edulabad in Ghatkesar Mandal in Rangareddy district (Telangana) on 25-8-2022.
Retired employees and officers of Coal India and Singareni Collieries Company are receiving pension as per provisions in Coal Mines Pension Scheme introduced in 1998 called CMPS-1998. This pension has not been reviewed for the last 24 years and not even a paisa has been increased. About eighty-four thousand pensioners in Singareni Collieries Company Ltd. and about four-and-a-half lakh pensioners in Coal India are suffering a lot due to non-increase in pension.
For review of CMPS-1998 and revision of pension, coal pensioners under the banner of All India Coal Pensioners Association (AICPA) had organized four days dharna from 25-28 July,2022 at Jantar-Mantar, New Delhi and they will hold one day dharna before all offices of Coal Mines Provident Fund Organisation on 10th October, 2022 all across the country. Further about 50 thousand coal pensioners will gather at Jantar-Mantar, New Delhi on 5th December,2022 for revision of pension.
President of Singareni Retired Employees Welfare Association Dandamraj Ramchander Rao, Vice President Alavandar Venu Madhav and other delegates from coal mines Sri Prabhakar, Sri Prakash Rao, Sri Lakshmi Narayana, Sri Satyanarayana, Sri Mallaya were part of the delegation who met the Union Minister for Coal Shri Prahlad Joshi.
