Letter from All Rajasthan State Government Employees Federation (United) to the Chief Secretary of the State Government

(English translation of Hindi letter)

All Rajasthan State Government Employees Federation (United)

Date: 1/05/2024

Shri Sudhanshu Pant,
Chief Secretary,
Government of Rajasthan, Jaipur

Subject: Against changing the 5-day week to 6-day week

Today, news about the change of the 5-day week to 6-day week in Rajasthan is being broadcast mainly on various social and electronic media in the state.

The system of 5-day week was implemented in Rajasthan by the former BJP government administration in 2008 to provide relief to employees to fulfil their social and family responsibilities and to ensure good work–life balance, as has been done for various departments in the Central government. If the government takes steps to change the present system of 5-day week to 6-day week, employees in Rajasthan will not tolerate this. The Employees Federation (United) will strongly oppose this and will be forced to start an agitation.

Thus, please keep the present system of 5-day week unchanged.

Gajendra Singh Rathod
State President
