Report of Kamgar Ekta Committee (KEC) Correspondent

On 3rd September 2024, a 9 Member delegation of All India Loco Running Staff Association (AILRSA) led by Comrade K.C. James, Secretary General, met with the members of the Multidisciplinary Committee (constituted by Railway Board on 11.07.2024) and the committee to deliberate on implementation and compliance of High Power Committee Recommendations (constituted by Railway Board on 26.07.2024) at New Delhi.

Before this meeting AILRSA had collected data from all the zones and divisions of Indian Railway.

The AILRSA delegation presented the various problems faced by loco pilots including long hours of duty, trip break, outstation and head quarter rest , periodic rest, not allowing more than two consecutive night duties, summary dismissal under SPAD, etc.

The AILRSA delegation also suggested solutions to the above problems.

The AILRSA delegation could present their case in detail before the two committees with documentary evidence.

The continuous agitation by AILRSA and especially the nearly one month long agitation of loco pilots of Southern Railway in June 2024 has brought the problems of loco pilots on the national stage and forced the railway authorities to constitute two committees to look into the grievances of loco pilots.
