AIRTU supports demands of S&T workers of Indian Railways

Respected Sir,

Sub: Demands of S&T Department

  1. Implement fixed 8-hour duty as per HOER-2005 in the S&T departments at all stations.
  2. On days of rest, workers should be allowed to leave headquarters and RG should be provided.
  3. Pay structure level of S&T helpers should be immediately restructured as per the 7th CPC Pay Matrix (G.P.)
  4. Technician grades I, II, and III should be merged and given grade pay of 4200.
  5. All S&T employees should be given the risk and hardship allowance as soon as possible.
  6. JEs of all departments should be given grade pay of 4600 as per the 6th Pay Commission and given the status of Group-B Gazetted.
  7. S&T staff should immediately be given overtime allowance for work beyond 8 hours of duty.
  8. New Yard Stick updated on 22.12.2022 should be immediately implemented for the S&T department.
  9. Night failure rectification gangs should be immediately established in the SSE units of S&T departments in the entire Indian Railways.
  10. JEs/SSEs of all departments should be given weekly compulsory rest and provided with RG. If workers don’t get rest, CR should be given.
  11. Through the promotion quota of all assistances, technicians, and SSEs/JEs Signals/Telecom, vacant positions should be immediately filled.
  12. Initial training should be immediately arranged for all assistants in the S&T department at the time of joining.
  13. All S&T Training Institutes should be enhanced to maintain high standards.
  14. As soon as modern gear is made, workers should be given mandatory training so that they can use the gear effectively.
  15. As soon as estimates for new gear are ready, new vacancy should be created so that existing workers are not overburdened.
  16. 15% of posts of Technician-I in the telecom department should be filled by direct recruitment.
