Chandigarh Powermen compelled to restart their agitation programme against the betrayal by the Chandigarh Administration.
Demand high level enquiry of retiring 200 employees, protest demonstration in all the offices will be held on 06.03.2025.

An urgent working committee meeting of the UT Powermen Union Chandigarh took place on 22.02.2025. The meeting discussed the post privatization situation and problems faced by the employees due to transfer to the private company.

The meeting unanimously decided to lodge a protest rally and demonstrations before all the offices on 06.03.2025 during lunch hours for the implementation of the following demands:

  1. Minutes of the meeting dated 31.01.2025 held with the union under the Chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner UT Chandigarh be issued and further tripartite agreement be issued immediately as assured in the meeting.
  2. Salary of the outsourced workers i.e. lineman, Asstt. lineman and Drivers for the month of January 25 be released immediately.
  3. High level enquiry over the issues related to voluntarily retiring 200 employees, causing hundreds of crores loss to the govt. exchequer due to wrong decision of HOD.
  4. Review of the pick & choose basis adjustment of the officers and employees in the Electricity Wing, State Load Dispatch Centre & State Transmission Unit.
  5. Employees transferred from Electricity Wing of Engineering Department, UT Chandigarh to Chandigarh Power Distribution Ltd be treated as govt. Employees till finalization of the transfer policy or upto one year being provisional transfer as per CAT orders, and treated as on deemed deputation in the CPDL.
  6. Grant arrears of pay scales, bonus, children allowance etc. of the past period.
  7. Continuation of govt. houses of employees residing in electricity and common Pool houses and earmarking of at least 250 houses in electricity colonies for common requirements and essential services.
  8. Implementation of CGHS scheme and treatment in PGI, GMSH, GMCH be continued including chronic diseases.
  9. Filling up of promotional posts on the basis of existing recruitment rules, as well as on the basis of recommendation as proposed amendments.
  10. Withdrawal of FIR lodged against the representatives of union and employees as assured in the meeting held on 31.01.2025.

UT Powermen Union has started a campaign in preparation of 06.03.2025 demonstration.
