Report of Rajasthan State Power Generation Corporation Limited Officer Employees Joint Struggle Committee
(Translation of Hindi report)
Rajasthan State Power Generation Corporation Limited Officers Employees Joint Struggle Committee has been protesting against privatization for the last 165 days, but the government is not ready to listen to their voice. Continuing their struggle, on Tuesday, March 11, an electricity mahapanchayat was organized at Chhabra Super Thermal Power Plant, in which All India Power Engineer Federation Chairman Shri Shailendra Dubey participated as the keynote speaker.
In his address, Shri Dubey said that the government is gradually withdrawing from government schemes. The government is cheating the public by handing over basic facilities like electricity, education, health and drinking water to private hands.
He warned that the government is conspiring to hand over government power plants to private companies under the guise of joint venture.
State convener of Sangharsh Samiti Rakesh Gupta said that the process of handing over Chhabra Thermal Power Plant to private companies in the name of joint venture is in the final stage. This plant is one of the most economical and efficient units in the state, but the government is making secret agreements to hand it over to private hands.
He said that the government has decided to change the main parameters of the plant by issuing an order on 06 March 2025, which will directly benefit private companies. This policy of the government is against the interests of the public and is suspicious.
The leaders of the Sangharsh Samiti said that the future of the employees is also in danger due to the privatization policy adopted by the government. They have not been guaranteed to get salary, pension and other facilities on time. The government is neither clarifying the terms of service nor is ready to communicate with the employees.
The Sangharsh Samiti has demanded from the government that
- The joint venture policy should be cancelled immediately.
- Government control of the power sector should be retained.
- A clear guarantee should be given on the electricity rates rising due to privatization.
- A transparent policy should be declared on the future and service conditions of the employees.
The struggle committee warned that if the government continues to ignore the interests of the public and employees, the movement will become more violent.
