June 22 Lucknow Gathering: A Golden Letter Day in the Fight Against Privatisation of electricity

Statement of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Uttar Pradesh

The massive gathering being held on June 22 in Lucknow against the privatisation of electricity will mark a golden chapter in the history of people’s resistance. Scheduled at Dr. Ambedkar Auditorium, near Dr. Lohia Law Institute, Aashiyana, at 12 noon, this event is not merely a meeting—it is the clarion call of a growing people’s movement against destructive privatisation policies.

Privatising electricity—an essential public service—is not just an attack on the rights of employees, but a direct blow to the common citizen’s access to affordable and equitable energy. This gathering aims to raise awareness and strengthen the collective voice of the people against this injustice.

We extend our best wishes for the grand success of this historic program and firmly believe that June 22 will be remembered as a turning point in the nationwide struggle to safeguard public utilities. Let the message be loud and clear:

Electricity is for the people, not for profit!
