Coal workers and pensioners from different corners of the country gathered at Coal India Limited (CIL) headquarters in Kolkata to demand pay parity for employees and pension revision and enhanced medical benefits for retired employees. The CIL management undertook various tactics to stop the dharna and police tried to stop the marching workers, but workers firmly continued their protest.
Notably, the Chairman of CIL refused to meet with the workers, delegating the task to junior officers instead. Coal workers strongly refused to submit their memorandum to these junior officers! They plan to organize more dharnas for their just demands.
