Electricity workers of Uttar Pradesh resolve to continue ongoing agitation against privatization, announce action plan

Decisions unanimously taken in the meeting of the central office-bearers of the Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, Uttar Pradesh, and the convenors/co-convenors of all districts and projects, held in Lucknow on 07 December 2025, against privatization and repressive actions:

– The ongoing agitation against privatization will continue as before. As soon as the one-sided tender for privatization is issued, a mass “fill the jails” (Jail Bharo) movement will be launched immediately.

– Extensive tour programmes will be drawn up for mobilization at the district and project levels in protest against privatization and repressive actions.

– On 01 January 2026, when the agitation completes 400 days, all Power employees and engineers will wear black armbands throughout the day and hold protest demonstrations after office hours.

– From 01 January 2026 to 08 January 2026, all power employees will wear black armbands throughout the day and, after office hours, organize large-scale protest demonstrations in all districts and projects.

– On 08 January 2026, massive protest demonstrations will be held at all project sites and Discom headquarters, in which power employees from distribution and transmission wings of all districts falling under the respective Discom, as well as employees from the concerned projects, will participate.

– From 08 January 2026 to 21 January 2026, all power employees will, after office hours, perform no work other than maintaining power supply.

– On 21 January 2026, a massive state-wide rally will be held in Lucknow, in which the next programmes of the agitation will be announced.
