Report by Kamgar Ekta Committee correspondent based o the report received from Com. Krishna Bhoyar, Deputy General Secretary, All India Federation of Electricity Employees (AIFEE)

The Central Working Committee meeting of the All India Federation of Electricity Employees (AIFEE) was held on May 31, 2026 in Thrissur, Kerala.
During his introductory remarks, Com. Mohan Sharma, General Secretary, AIFEE provided detailed information regarding the ongoing privatization of public sector electricity companies across the country through various means. The Central Government attempted to introduce the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025 during the previous parliament session. However, this attempt was unsuccessful. The Central Government may make further attempts to pass the Bill in the parliament in the future.
To mobilise support against the Bill, the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers organized a national convention of MPs from all political parties in Delhi and provided them with detailed information regarding the proposed legislation. During this national convention, all MPs from the opposition parties pledged to raise their voices against this Bill within parliament.
Committee members from various states presented detailed reports regarding the organizational status in their respective states and the ongoing privatization of the electricity sector. All the speakers unanimously declared their firm resolve to oppose the proposed Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025.
