Letter by Andhra Pradesh Electricity Employees Union (APEEU) to Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission
The restructuring of power distribution for agricultural consumers has far reaching implications for farmer welfare, long-term sustainability of existing three distribution companies and on electricity workers of these companies. Transfer of substantial activities related to agricultural services to Andhra Pradesh Agricultural Power Ltd. may result in redistribution of workload and reduction in manpower in the existing Discoms. This could adversely affect cadre strength, promotional opportunities, carer progression and overservice conditions of employees. These matters require serious deliberation before the grant of distribution licence.
