Power sector employees must stay alert about governments’ attempts at privatization through parallel distribution licence, franchising, prepaid smart meters and listing in share market – AIFEE

Circular of All India Federation of Electricity Employees (AIFEE) to all its constituents about struggle against Tata Power application for grant of parallel distribution licence in Karnataka

Karnataka power sector employees, engineers and offices unitedly waged a struggle against attempt to privatize distribution by grant of parallel licence to Tata Power to distribute power in 19 districts of the state. Electricity consumers including farmers joined in large numbers in protests. Nearly 10000 objections were submitted. They organised a rally of more than 15000 people as a part of their struggle. Central and state governments are attempting power sector privatization through various means. The central government is waiting to introduce the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2025 in the parliament. Power sector workers all over the country have to stay alert and keep strongly opposing every attempt of privatization of power sector.
