Call of All India Station Masters’ Association (AISMA) to its members
The Deputy Station Superintendent of Agra Cantt was assaulted while he was on duty by certain personnel of Railway Protection Force (RPF) in the month of July. AISMA organized a massive protest involving hundreds of their members in front of Divisional Railway Manager’s office in Agra, and sit in protests across India, demanding severest punishment to the guilty personnel. Their persistent opposition has forced railway administration to take some action against the guilty. AISMA has demanded the Railway Board to issue strict and clear guidelines in this regard at the earliest, so that such an incident against any railway employee on duty never recurs
AISMA has decided to observe “Power Day” on 11th August by holding sit-in protest in front of General Manager’s offices for fulfilment of their long pending demands including demands of:
- Zero vacancy
- Night duty allowance to be given to all without any ceiling limit
- The inhuman 12-hour roster to be abolished
- Transparency in IRT and IDT to be ensured along with prompt transfers

On June 15, we performed our duties at stations wearing black badges to protest for our four major demands, which are as follows:
(1) Zero vacancy,
(2) Night duty allowance to be given to all without any ceiling limit,
(3) The inhuman 12-hour roster to be abolished,
(4) Transparency in IRT and IDT to be ensured along with prompt transfers.
The outcome of the peaceful sit-in protest on June 15 was that on June 17, the CRB Sir held a meeting with all Railway officials, and on June 18, the Hon’ble Minister of Railways held a meeting with all Railway Board officials and sought suggestions regarding empowering Station Masters. On July 22, the Railway Board issued letter No. E(NG)-I/2026/TR/15 (E-FILE:3537162) regarding IRT and IDT. We express our gratitude for this.
On July 14, we again staged a peaceful sit-in protest at all DRM offices. In Agra, a massive protest was held at the Agra platform and the Divisional Railway Manager’s office against the heinous, inhuman, and unimaginable act committed by some guilty RPF personnel against our Station Master colleague. Simultaneously, sit-in protests were also held at all divisions and stations of Indian Railways. Candle marches were taken out at all stations, and we are continuously wearing black badges to register our protest in a peaceful manner.
We wish to make it clear that our movement is not against any particular department. Our protest is against those guilty individuals who, through their grievous criminal and inhuman acts, have not only severely undermined the dignity and credibility of Indian Railways but have also deeply damaged the trustworthiness, reputation, and image of the entire Railway Protection Force department.
Words are insufficient to condemn the brutality inflicted upon a Station Master on duty. The Station Master is the face of Indian Railways, trusted by every citizen of this country and every rail passenger. In any crisis, accident, or distress, the passenger looks first to the Station Master with hopeful eyes, because they trust that there is an officer at the railway station who will always be ready to assist in every possible way. By attacking such a conscientious officer, the guilty have struck not merely at an employee, but at the entire railway system, its dignity, and the trust of the nation’s people. The culprits have made a condemnable attempt to convey that they are above law and order, creating an atmosphere of fear among rail passengers and employees alike, which cannot be tolerated under any circumstances in the interest of the railways.
Our struggle is not only to ensure the strictest punishment for the guilty, but also to uproot any such wrong tendencies or practices within the railways at the earliest stage. We want the Railway Board to issue strict and clear guidelines in this regard at the earliest, so that such an incident against any railway employee on duty never recurs, and the culture of law, discipline, mutual respect, and accountability within the entire railway system is further strengthened.
The inquiry committee on the Agra incident is conducting its investigation. As a result of our unity, the support of employees from all departments and public opposition:
1. The Sr. DSC has been transferred.
2. The four guilty constables have been suspended and transferred to other divisions.
3. The four RPF constables, along with three tempo drivers, have been arrested by the GRP, and action is being taken against them.
4. The DIG/Coordination/RB has issued a letter to all Zonal Railways regarding a Rajya Sabha question (Reference: 2026/SEC(Crime)/110/29 dated July 21, 2026), which relates to a provisionally admitted starred question (DY No. S5155). This question pertains to complaints received against the RPF over the last three years and seeks data on poor performance, while also asking whether the Railway is considering entrusting this responsibility to the CISF.
However, we do not consider this a complete victory. As long as those who committed such heinous acts, which have brought shame to the image of Railways even among the general public do not receive the strictest punishment, we will not stop. We demand full justice, and we shall achieve it.
Now, we must focus on our remaining pending demands and observe “Power Day” on August 11 with a peaceful sit-in protest at the General Manager’s office. All of you are requested to prepare thoroughly for this.
Let us spread this message across the nation: our movement is for justice, dignity, the rule of law, the reputation of Railways, and the safety of passengers and Railway employees on duty.
