Nasik electricity workers oppose Maharashtra Government’s privatization plans

On 5th August 2026, as a part of statewide agitation of electricity workers against Maharashtra Governments’ privatization plans, men and women workers across various departments and functions of Nasik Thermal Power Plant, held a militant gate meeting.

The gate meeting was addressed by Comrade Khatib, Comrade Devkate and Comrade Umakant Poraje of MSEWF, Engineer Gawant of Subordinate Engineers Association, Deepak Choudhari of Kamgar Sangh, Shashikant Pawar of Magaswargiya Sanghatana.

The speakers explained how the Maharashtra Government is taking steps to close down 6 thermal power plants belonging to Mahanirmiti generating around 1600 MW and instead buy equivalent power from Adani Power. Some sets of Nasik thermal power plant are also to be closed. The speakers denounced the state government for continuosly neglecting the need to modernise the thermal power plants over last many decades deliberately, and now the government is using excuse that these plants are old and inefficient and hence need to be shut down. All the speakers expressed their resolve to oppose all such privatization plans of Maharashtra government.
