On behalf of Maharashtra State Electricity Workers, Engineers Officers Struggle Committee, protests were held on 8th December by holding door meetings to oppose the amended Electricity Act 2021 all across Maharashtra including Kolhapur, Sangli, Pune, Nagpur, Solapur, Nashik, Aurangabad and Jalna.
Addressing the protest in front of MSEDCL Vashi Mandal, General Secretary of Maharashtra State Electricity Workers Federation, Comrade Krishna Bhoyar gave detailed information about the adverse effects of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2021 on the general public, farmers, power consumers and workers, engineers and officials. Daund Saheb Vargas Region Women’s Front President Mrs. Bharanti Bhoyar Madam addressed the public meeting. The meeting was moderated by Comrade Sharad Mokal and the vote of thanks was given by Comrade Dattatraya Kamble.
The National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and engineers (NCCOEEE) was convened under the chairmanship of Comrade Mohan Sharma ji, a prominent leader of electricity engineers and employees on December 3, 2021 in Delhi. The NCCOEEE decided the following agitation programme all over the country.
1) It has been decided to hold a large-scale door-to-door demonstration on December 8, 2021 in front of the offices of all the power industry companies across the country.
2) On 15th December 2021, thousands of power workers, engineers and officials from across the country will protest at Parliament House Jantar Mantar, Delhi.
3) If there is an attempt to bring the amended Electricity Act 2021 in the current session of the Parliament, a strike will be called all over the country on the same day as the Bill is tabled in the Parliament.
4) The second session of the budget session of Parliament will start from February 1, 2022. On the first day of the session, it was decided that workers, engineers and officials from all over the country will go on strike to oppose the Electricity Bill.
5) It was decided to explain the implications of the Electricity Bill by giving a statement to the Chief Minister, Chief Minister, Energy Minister and MP of all the parties across the country.
