The Delhi unit of the National Movement for Old Pension Scheme (NMOPS) staged a sit-in protest before the NHRC Bhawan in New Delhi against the National Pension Scheme and demanded the restoration of old pension scheme on the occasion of the International Human Rights Day. said Delhi.
“We urge the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to intervene in this matter. The commission has written a letter to the DOPPG asking him to reply within four weeks and also form a committee to resolve this issue,” said Manjeet Singh Patel, the president of NMOPS. The NMOPS has been fighting for the scrapping of the new pension system and the restoration of the old one and has over 13 lakh central and state government employees as its members.
Central and state governments have implemented a share-market based pension system for their employees, including the ones in autonomous organisations since January 2004 due to which there is no assured pension amount.
