All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) held an emergency meeting of its federal executive on 14 April 2023 in New Delhi and demanded immediate withdrawal and stoppage of all vindictive actions of the UP government and Power Corporation on power employees. These actions are in gross violation of the assurances given by the Minister of Energy.
After the withdrawal of the strike in March 2023, based on assurances given by the Energy Minister of U.P., the state government and Power Corporation has started taking vindictive actions including termination of the services of low paid casual workers, and suspension of employees, in violation of a mutual agreement arrived at harmoniously
Power employees and engineers of Uttar Pradesh have been united fighting to protect the interests of the power industry and its employees under the banner of Vidyut Karamchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, UP. Due to the failure of the U.P. Government and Power Corporation to honour a written bilateral agreement between the Energy Minister of U.P. and the Sangharsh Samiti, the employees and engineers were compelled to undertake a 72-hour strike from 10 pm of 16th March 2023.
The emergency federal executive meeting was attended by the representatives of more than dozen states including Maharashtra, Telangana, West Bengal Punjab, Haryana New Delhi Jammu and Kashmir and others. The meeting was addressed by Shri Shailendra Dubey, Shri Padamjit Singh, Shri Rathnakar Rao, Shri Ashok Rao and other state leaders.
The Federal Executive resolved that in case victimisation of UP power employees and engineers is not withdrawn immediately then one lakh power engineers across the country shall not remain silent spectators and will be forced to resort to remedial actions. The Federal Executive called upon the engineers and employees across the country to be ready to struggle and make any sacrifice that may be required in support of the UP engineers and employees.
