Running staff of Palanpur, Western Railway, demand off-duty rest at headquarters for safe and secure running of trains

Letter from Palanpur running staff to Ahmedabad Divisional Manager

(English translation of Hindi letter)

Sir,
Railway Divisional Manager
Ahmedabad (Western Railway)

Subject: Regarding the problems arising from the conversion of Palanpur and New Palanpur into sister lobbies

In reference to the above letter.

Sir, the administration has implemented JPO No. WR-ADI00PTG(To48) on the running staff of Palanpur, because of which we are working under mental stress.

Sir, this letter lists some points that have caused problems to the running staff working at Palanpur headquarters. The administration should reconsider these points, which are given below.

Sir, if ON duty should be implemented in PNUN to save PDD as per JPO, then

  1. There are flaws in DFC’s taxi management. Thus, smooth operations of the taxi facility should be started. Considering the sensitive nature of the path, taxi should be made permanent for on duty as well as off duty.
  2. After TA of PNUN, call serve time of minimum 3 hours should be given. Moreover, taxi should be made available at PNU 45 minutes before TA time. If taxi is made available late for some reason, then workers should be approved as being on duty at the right time on CMS.
  3. If an accident occurs while going from PNU to PNUN without marking workers as on duty, administration should consider workers as on duty.
  4. Sir, employees should be considered off duty only at the Palanpur headquarters, so that there is no deduction in the 16 hours of rest that employees should get at the headquarters. By ensuring this, running staff will be able to run trains safely and securely after getting full rest.

All running staff of Palanpur lobby have always done their work sincerely and will continue to do so.

An appeal for justice
From the entire running staff of Palanpur
