Report by Shri Ram Naresh Paswan, General Secretary, Central Railway Track- Maintainers Union
On 12 June 2024, under the banner of the Central Railway Trackmaintainer Union (AIRTU), a dharna was organized at the Pune Divisional Railway Manager’s office against years of non-payment of cycle maintenance allowance to track maintainers, which is in negligence of the order of the Railway Board.
This was the first protest of the Pune division, yet hundreds of track maintainers from the division participated and strengthened the demonstration and made it successful.
In the absence of the DRM, Sr. DPO accepted the administration’s delay in giving this allowance, held the administration responsible and assured to pay the cycle maintenance allowance to all track maintainers within a month. DRM Pune will discuss and inform CRTU about the payment of arrears within a week.
I am confident that the administration will fulfil its promise, otherwise CRTU will be once again forced to decide on a bigger agitation.
In today’s protest, under the guidance of Shri D. Ramesh Babu (Advisor/ CRTU), the main persons present included Shri Vinod Ramteke (Working President/ Nagpur Division), Shri Anil Yadav (Assistant General Secretary), Shri Sonu Singh Rajput (President Mumbai Division), Shri Nitish Kumar (Assistant Secretary), Shri Dharmendra Kumar (Mumbai Division Minister), Shri Gurunath Surve (Working President Mumbai Division), Shri Randhir Prakash (Assistant Secretary/ Mumbai Division), and Shri Deepak Kumar (Branch Secretary/ Lonavala), who strengthened the dharna.
I express my gratitude to all of you revolutionary comrades on behalf of Pune Division. I also heartily congratulate all of you comrades of Pune Division who have contributed their valuable time to make the protest successful.
Thank you
Your comrade
Ram Naresh Paswan
