RFP document before bidding, If released then it will expose the scam of privatization.
On the call of National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE), all the power employees and engineers of all the power utilities across the country observed Anti-Privatization Day today and held meetings in all the districts and projects.
All India Power Engineers Federation Chairman Shailendra Dubey and Secretary General P Ratnakar Rao have accused the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation management of misleading the employees and creating an atmosphere of fear and industrial unrest in the energy corporations. They warned that if the management releases the draft RFP document before starting the bidding process, the dangers of privatization will automatically be revealed & the scam behind privatization will be exposed.
Today, nationwide “Anti-Privatization Day” was observed against the privatization of electricity and protest meetings were held in all the districts and projects across the country. The National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) has warned that as soon as the bidding documents for privatization in Uttar Pradesh are released, lakhs of Power Employees will be forced to take to the streets.
He said that if any attempt is made to hand over the electricity department of Chandigarh to a private company, there will be a sharp reaction and the power employees will take to the streets across the country. Describing privatization as a big scam, he said that assets worth billions of rupees were being sold at throwaway prices.
The conspiracy to sell will not be allowed to succeed. Chandigarh’s electricity assets worth Rs 22,000 crore are being given to a private company for just Rs 871 crore.
Protest Meetings against electricity privatization in Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh were held in places like Lucknow, Varanasi Agra, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Vijayawada, Guwahati, Nagpur, Raipur, Jabalpur, Bhopal, Shimla, Jammu, Srinagar, Dehradun, Patiala, Ranchi, etc..
Protest meetings were held in all the districts and projects including Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh.
Shailendra Dubey said in a statement issued here today that the power employees and engineers of Uttar Pradesh are continuously engaged in improving the electricity system and making the OTS scheme starting from December 15 successful, but it is not known why the Power Corporation management has mysteriously decided to sell electricity distribution in 42 districts of the state. By announcing the privatization of power companies, they have agitated the electricity workers and unnecessarily created an atmosphere of industrial unrest in the energy corporations.
He said that in the RFP document issued before the privatization of Agra, AT&C losses were greatly exaggerated which was fake. Due to this wrong document, Power Corporation has already incurred a loss of Rs 2,434 crore in providing electricity to Torrent. This time too, there is a conspiracy to sell assets worth billions of rupees of Purvanchal and Dakshinanchal Electricity Distribution Corporations at throwaway prices without valuing the assets. If the RFP document is released before bidding, the entire scam will come to light.
On what basis will the undoubtedly valuable land of Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam and Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam worth billions of rupees be handed over to private houses for just one rupee? This is a public asset. Due to all these things, power employees and consumers are very upset and agitated.
