The Southern Region Meeting of the National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) was held at D Janaki Raman Bhawan, Chennai, on 16th March 2025.
Key speakers at the convention included Shailendra Dubey, Chairman of AIPEF, Sudip Dutta, General Secretary of Electricity Employees Federation of India (EEFI), and S Rajendran, General Secretary of Central Organisation of Tamil Nadu Electricity Employees (COTEE), S Murthy, President of All India Federation f Electricity Employees (AIFEE), V Sampath Kumar of All India Federation of Power Diploma Engineers (AIFOPDE), Samar Sinha, General Secretary of All India Powermens’ Federation (AIPF), Soma Sekar, President of AIPF), Rathnakar, General Secretary of AIPEF, A Sekkizhar, General Secretary of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board Employees Federation (TNEBEF). Leaders from Kerala, Karnataka, Puthussery, Andra Pradesh and Telangana also participated.
The convention resolved to establish a regional chapter of NCCOEEE with S Rajendran as Convener, alongside representatives from all federations.
The meeting adopted following resolutions:
- Organize Joint Protest Demonstrations by burning the Notification of the Labour Codes immediately after the announcement, to be held at all Power Stations, Sub Stations, and Offices on the day of or the day following the announcement.
- State Level Massive Joint Conventions to be organized by 15th April 2025.
- Preparation of two separate Joint Leaflets focusing on the Labour Codes and specific issues related to the Electricity Sector.
- Distribution of Joint Leaflets to all electricity employees and engineers.
- Gate Meetings to be conducted in the last week of April 2025 for campaigning against the Labour Code.
- Massive Rallies at State Capitals by the first week of May.
- Engagement of electricity employees and engineers in community outreach through street corners, small public meetings, and door-to-door campaigns.
- Electricity Employees will participate in National Strike announced by the Central Trade Unions against the Labour Codes. Separate strike notice will be submitted by the Electricity sector Unions and Associations.
- Mass Mobilization at district headquarters on the day of the strike.
- NCCOEEE Southern region to reconvene immediately after the National Strike by the Joint Platform of the Central Trade Unions to prepare for the historic Power Sector Strike of 26th June 2025.
S Rajendran has been elected as the Convener, NCCOEEE Southern Regional Chapter
Office Bearers of Power Engineers Association of Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Puducherry & Tamil Nadu were present in very good number in NCCOEEE Southern Region Meeting along with power employees unions of all Southern States.
