Strike Against Corporate Loot, Injustice and Authoritarianism

Bhumi Adhikar Andolan Stands Firmly with 9th July Nationwide General Strike

Down with Corporate Loot! Down with BJP’s Anti-People Rule!

Land, Labour, Forests Belong to the People—Not Corporates!

Bhumi Adhikar Andolan (BAA) stands in uncompromising solidarity with the Nationwide General Strike on 9th July 2025, called by the Joint Platform of Central Trade Unions and Independent Federations. This strike is not just a protest—it is a people’s mandate against the corporate-driven, authoritarian regime of the BJP government, which has consistently trampled upon the rights of workers, farmers, Adivasis, forest-dwelling communities, and the poor.

The Modi-led BJP government has become a willing agent of corporate power—selling off the country’s labour, land, and forests to its billionaire allies while unleashing repression on those who resist.

Its much-hyped Labour Codes are nothing but a direct assault on the Indian working class. These Codes:

  • Exclude more than 90% of India’s workforce—especially informal, contract, migrant, and rural workers—from meaningful protections.
  • Dismantle workplace safety, especially for construction workers, sanitation workers, and those in hazardous jobs.
  • Legalize bonded labour through provisions that allow exploitative wage advances.
  • Break worker unity by introducing complex classifications and thresholds to deny rights.
  • Crush unionisation and restrict the right to strike while empowering employers to lay off workers at will.
  • Take away access to justice, by moving disputes from courts to toothless, bureaucratic tribunals.

This is a war on the working poor, driven by the BJP’s obsession with “ease of doing business” for corporates—and misery for the masses.

At the same time, the BJP government has launched an all-out attack on land and forest rights:

  • It is diluting the Forest Rights Act (FRA), 2006, and denying Adivasis and forest dwellers their constitutional entitlements.
  • It has amended the Forest (Conservation) Act (FCA) to allow corporates to take over forest land without even consulting Gram Sabhas.
  • Massive deforestation is underway across India—driven by mining, highways, and industrial corridors—while people protecting forests are criminalized.

Bhumi Adhikar Andolan condemns this pro-corporate, anti-people regime in the strongest possible terms. We demand:

  • Immediate repeal of the four Labour Codes.
  • Ensure minimum wages, social security, job protection, and occupational safety for all workers.
  • Restore democratic mechanisms like the Indian Labour Conference and recognize trade unions as legitimate voices.
  • Implement FRA in full letter and spirit—stop the sabotage.
  • Immediately withdraw the FCA amendments.
  • Recognize and protect the land and forest rights of Adivasi, Dalit, and rural communities.

We call upon all workers, unions, people’s movements, women, students, farmers, and forest communities to rise together on 9th July and send a clear message: This country belongs to the people—not to corporates, cronies, or authoritarian rulers.

Make the 9th July Strike a Turning Point in the People’s Struggle!

In solidarity:
