All India Bank Employees Association (AIBEA) starts signature campaign against privatisation in Maharashtra

Report by KEC correspondent

AIFAP had reported that Bank of Maharashtra workers have started signature campaign amongst people against privatisation of public sector banks. Now All India Bank Employees Association members (AIBEA) have taken up the drive in many other areas of Maharashtra. In Ratnagiri campaign was started by putting up a pandal in Bank of Maharashtra premises and in Chiplun in the premises of Bank of India. AIBEA members patiently explained the ill effects of bank privatisation to citizens. In a single day more than 1000 people signed on the petition, to be submitted to the Prime Minister of India.

Workers of sectors like banking, railways, electricity, insurance, health have very close and long relationship with the consumers. Hence if they will take the lead to mobilise consumer support to oppose privatisation of public sector enterprise, the consumers will surely respond positively.

There is an urgent need to organise a massive signature campaign across the country. If each public sector employee works to get support of just 10 consumers, within a couple of weeks, there will be crores of consumers who will be with us!
