Report from the website of All India Railway Men’s Federation (AIRF)

Indian Railways is the lifeline of the country. The development of the country is linked to the development of railways. Privatization of Railways will not be tolerated at any cost. This was stated by Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary, All India Railway Federation (AIRF), New Delhi at the three-day 15th biennial open session of Eastern Railway Men’s Union (ERMU), Kolkata, held at the National Institute campus, Jamalpur on Saturday.

Shri Mishra said that the government cannot deny the rights of the workers by privatizing the Indian Railways. At present, the Railway Board Chairman and Railway Minister have promised that the workers won’t lose their rights due to railway privatization. If this is not ensured, then there will be a wheel jam across the country. He said that the unemployed Railway Act apprentices would be provided jobs in the Railways at the earliest. For this, AIRF is putting pressure on the Railway Board.

He said that the POH work of electric loco would start soon at Rail Loco Factory Jamalpur. Now 175-ton hydraulic crane will also be manufactured in the factory. Shri Mishra said that the conspiracy to close the Diesel Shed Jamalpur and Rail Engine Factory Jamalpur has failed.

The convention was presided over by ERMU Central Working President Sudhir Roy. It was hosted by General Secretary Amit Ghosh. To celebrate the 99th anniversary of ERMU in the convention, about 500 office bearers and members of the ERMU Central Committee were present on this occasion.
