Strike letters received from various unions of steel and metal, power, and refinery workers
A very large number of unions representing public sector workers have sent legal notices to the respective authorities, declaring that their members will be joining the all-India strike on 12 February 2026.
We are attaching herewith some of those notices from:
• All Trade Unions of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant
• Durgapur Steel Sramik Union
• Durgapur Steel Plant Thikadar Sramik Union
• United Workmen Union, Guwahati Refinery I.O.C. Ltd.
• West Bengal State Electricity Board Powermen’s Union
• United Workers’ Union (Orissa Hydropower Corporation)
• A.B.K. Metal and Engineering Works Union, SAIL-ISP Burnpur
All of them have expressed their full support to the various demands being raised by the strike call given by the Central Trade Unions, including the following demands:
• Halt to the disinvestment/privatization of PSUs
• Immediate withdrawal of the four labour codes
• Immediate withdrawal of Draft Electricity Act (Amendment) Bill 2025
• Stoppage of contractualization in permanent and perennial work
• Withdrawal of Shram Shakti Niti 2025
Steel workers have also raised the following important issues:
• Immediate withdrawal of the circular proposing 20% retrenchment of contract workers in running contracts
• Written assurance of job security for contract workers in SAIL and RINL-VSP.
• Immediate withdrawal of disinvestment proposal of RINL-VSP
• Immediate stoppage of linking monthly wage payments with production in RINL-VSP, since production is completely dependent on policy and operational decisions of SAIL, RINL managements and Government of India
• Immediate withdrawal of illegal transfers, unilateral changes in service conditions and victimization of permanent and contract workers
