Statement of Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, UP
Power employees and engineers of Uttar Pradesh have been waging struggle against the planned privatization of two distribution companies of the state. The power company administration must be condemned for harassing active workers and engineers in order to crush their struggle. Privatization of the two discoms is against the interests of power consumers and workers. They deserve congratulations for waging relentless struggle for last 500 days and for taking up campaign to create public awareness against privatization.

A crucial meeting of the Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, Uttar Pradesh was held on 12 April 2026 in Lucknow, with participation of over 500 power employees and engineers from across the state all office bearers of employees’ unions & engineers’ association.
Clear Warning Issued:
If all victimization actions taken against power employees during the ongoing movement are not immediately withdrawn, the top management of Power Corporation will be fully responsible for any disruption in electricity supply during the coming summer.
It was also warned that if any employee or engineer is further harassed to hide management failures, power employees will be compelled to stop work and come out, and the entire responsibility will lie with the management.
Statewide “Jan-Jagran Abhiyan” Announced.
From 15 April to 21 May, a massive public awareness campaign will be conducted across Uttar Pradesh.
Joint meetings will be held with consumers and farmers in every district to expose the ongoing victimization and to highlight that despite 501 days of continuous struggle, employees have ensured uninterrupted service to consumers.
Major Protest Programs:
- 24 April – Meerut Discom
- 2 May – KESCO
- 6 May – Agra Discom
- 14 May – Lucknow Discom
- 21 May – Varanasi Discom
- Strong protests will be organized at all Discom headquarters.
Key Issues Raised:
- Continuous victimization of employees
- Large-scale retrenchment of contract workers
- Reduction in regular workforce under “vertical restructuring”
- Serious threat to power supply system
Key Demands:
- Immediate withdrawal of all victimization actions
- Reinstatement of experienced contract workers
- Stop further harassment to ensure smooth power supply during peak summer demand
Power employees reaffirmed that they remain fully committed to consumers and farmers, and have ensured uninterrupted services even during 501 days of struggle. However, management’s continued repression is forcing the situation towards crisis.
It is unfortunate that despite clear directions given on 19 March 2023 by the Hon’ble Energy Minister to withdraw such actions, not only were they ignored, but new victimization measures are being imposed, indicating a push towards privatization.
Final Message:
If corrective steps are not taken immediately, serious consequences are inevitable.
Struggle continues — Justice must prevail!
Inquilab Zindabad!
