The resolution declared that electricity is not just a commodity but a fundamental right of every human being and hence cannot be looked at with profit motive and hence should never be handed over to private companies. The resolution highlighted various ways by which the Rajasthan Government is covertly trying to privatize electricity by handing over distribution in cities of Kota, Ajmer, Bikaner, Bharatpur and Jodhpur. The resolution also demanded that governments should make the necessary investments to strengthen the government owned electricity enterprises.
The second resolution demanded that the government should withdraw the four newly enacted Labour Codes. It also called on the government to urgently take tough measures to control contractual employment and must ensure equal wages for equal work.
Another important resolution demanded full implementation of safety measures for power workers, as mandated by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA). The resolution highlighted that the CEA norms are regularly violated due to which every day there are more than 3 electricity related accidents. The resolution highlighted that this incidence has dramatically gone up after increased contractualization and outsourcing of electricity related work.
