Thousands of Karnataka Power sector workers declare their opposition to entry of Tata Power in electricity distribution

On 17th June, thousands of Karnataka Power sector workers and other employees declared their opposition to the attempts of Tata Power company to take over electricity distribution in 19 cities of Karnataka.

Gate meetings of workers were addressed by K Balram, the President of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Employees Union and many other leaders. Gate meetings were held in most of the large cities of Karnataka including Bengaluru, Mangluru, Hubbali, Mysuru and Gulbarga.

In some meetings, representatives of electricity consumer associations and also of some farmer’s organizations participated. Ill effects of privatization of power sector for consumers and workers were explained by the speakers and all present declared their opposition to any privatization moves of the government.
