Electricity employees and engineers of Haryana have once again shown what unity, determination and uncompromising struggle can achieve. It was a fight against the anti-worker and anti-consumer privatization of power sector. It was a fight to protect the interests of society as a whole. They formed a joint struggle front of unions of employees and engineers to wage the struggle and insisted that unless written assurance is given, they would not change their decision to resort to the strike. The National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE) along with All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) also extended their full support to the struggle. The struggle of Haryana electricity workers is bound to inspire power workers in other states to wage even more united determined struggles against privatization.

A resounding victory for the struggle of Haryana’s Power Engineers and Employees!
The All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) conveys its heartiest congratulations and revolutionary salute to the Power Engineers and Employees of Haryana for their determined, united and democratic struggle!
Following sustained struggle and discussions with the Government, and on the basis of the written assurances received, the proposed three-day strike on 11, 12 and 13 August 2026 has been withdrawn.
Key achievements of the struggle:
- The process of creating an Agriculture DISCOM in Haryana has been kept on hold.
- The Haryana Government will oppose the proposal for Parallel Distribution Licences in Gurugram and Nuh.
- In the matter of installation of Smart Prepaid Meters, consumers will have the option of choosing either Prepaid or Postpaid meters.
- Under the Online Transfer Policy relating to transfer and posting of technical employees and engineers, technical posts below the level of Junior Engineer have, for the time being, been kept outside the policy.
- Positive assurances have been given by the Government and management on issues concerning cadre restructuring, promotions, risk allowance, electricity allowance and other employees’ interests.
This is not merely a victory for Haryana; it is a victory for the struggle to protect the entire power sector!
AIPEF firmly believes that through unity, struggle and organisational strength, every attempt to privatise the power sector can be resisted and defeated.
