The All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU) held a state-level protest in Bengaluru on 19th August,2026. (Report enclosed)
The protest was organized on the background of the fact that Karnataka Government has recently announced its intention of reducing the guaranteed minimum wages, which it had declared just 2 months ago on 22nd May 2026!
A demand charter was given to the State government representative which included following major demands:
– Abolishing the contract, outsourcing, daily-wage, temporary, and other precarious labour systems used for essential and continuous work
– Regularise workers who have served on contract or temporary basis for long terms
– Strictly enforce the revised minimum wage notified on 22.05.2026 in all scheduled employments
– Take immediate legal action against employers paying below the minimum wage and recover unpaid wages for workers
– Ensure a safe, dignified, and harassment-free working environment for women workers
