Singareni Collieries Workers Union (AITUC) asks the management to immediately meet their demands, or else the union would call for a general strike

Vasireddy Sitaramaiah, AITUC general secretary, Singareni Collieries Workers Union, said that the management was negligent in not resolving the strike demands in Singareni.

He was speaking at a meeting of AITUC workers at Bhaskar Rao Bhavan in Godavarikhani on 24 February. He alleged that the management was negligent in resolving the issues, postponing the negotiations for months, delaying the formation of committees and agreeing to agree on certain demands which were negotiated in the presence of the CC. He demanded that the employers immediately address the workers’ strike demands, or else the unions would call for a general strike.

Similarly, the AITUC Central Working Committee meeting was held in Bhupalpally on 23 February in which the meeting opposed the decision of the Central Government to privatize the four coal mines in Singareni. He said the strategy to be followed for the union to win was being discussed. Also present at the meeting were leaders Korimi Rajkumar, Merugu Rajaya, Maddi Ella Goud, Rangu Srinivas, Bogi Satish Babu, K Swamy, Paidipala Rajaya, Uppuleti Tirupati, Akunuri Sankarayya, Koppala Mallaya, Donta Sayanna, Office Secretary Thodupunuri Ramesh Kumar and others.
