Postal employees will go on one-day strike on 4 August 2022 against plans to privatise postal services

Report by Kamgar Ekta Committee (KEC) correspondent

The postal employees have decided to go on a one-day strike on August 4 2022 against the government’s decision to hand over the money of depositors in the Postal Savings Bank and Postal Life Insurance to a private company, IPPB Limited. If the Government does not change its decision after a one-day strike, then the employees of the Department of Posts may decide to continue the agitation.

In a demonstration organised on 9 July 2022, Mr. Janardan Majumdar, Secretary General of National Federation of Postal Employees (NFPE) Union, West Bengal circle, said in a Moulali Youth centre Kolkata, that postal employees will go on national strike for continued attempts by the Modi Govt to privatise postal services.

This is an attack on the ordinary citizens whose deposits will be in danger. The interest on postal savings that depositors used to get will be now linked to the market. He mentioned this will also affect the rojiroti of lakhs of agents.
