The Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2022 is to be tabled in the parliament today i.e. on the 8th of August 2022. The Power Ministry has used the back door for tabling this bill overlooking and bypassing all the prevailing norms of discussion within the select committee before the step of tabling.
Why did the Ministry of Power bypass all the norms? For the simple reason that any hindrance or obstacle does not arise for the takeover of the energy sector by private players all over the country.
This in turn will reduce the vacancies in the government sector and pave way for the exploitation of the employees and the consumers will be exploited by way of higher tariff (no subsidies for farm & domestic consumers).
Insult to injury is that the infrastructure for distribution of the government discoms will be used free of cost by these private players.
This is a call and appeal to all the engineers and employees of the power sector to oppose this bill tooth and nail to register our opposition throughout the length and breadth of the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Kutchh to Kamrup.
To save the power sector, it’s employees and the consumers.
